6 - What are scholarship opportunities for Halic University graduates?
-Our university has scholarship opportunities for our graduates on postgraduate education. It changes as yearly, and you can access via this link to current scholarship opportunities of the period which you will apply.
7 - Can I benefit from full scholarship opportunity? What are the requirements to get full scholarship?
-Full scholarship opportunity is valid on filling quota. Getting scholarship is evaluated by rectorship according to the student's ranking.
8 - How are interviews conducted? Is there science exam performed in the interviews?
-Relevant head of the department/art branch decides how and in what way to conduct the interviews. Online interviews are conducted with the decision of head of the department/art branch during pandemia. Interview dates are published on our institute website on application process.
9 - Do I have to take ALES for application to graduate program with thesis?
-The applications without ALES document and the students who can't provide essential ALES degree which signified on application requirements will not be accepted. ALES requirement is not asked for Theatre and Turkish Music Master Program, Textile and Fashion Design Master and Proficiency in Art Programs, Graphic Design Master Program.
10 - Do I have to take ALES for graduate programs without thesis?
-ALES requirement is not asked for the programs without thesis.
11 - Can I transfer to the program with thesis from the program without thesis?
-The students registered on the program without thesis can transfer to the program with thesis, provided that they complete essential requirements.
12 - What are other equivalent English proficiency exams to YDS for applications?
-YÖKDİL, YDS, e-YDS conducted by ÖSYM is valid. Moreover, TOEFL is also valid, provided that taking equivalent degree.
13 - When is validity period of essential exam results for application and register?
-The result of YDS, e-YDS, YÖKDİL and ALES are valid during 5 years. The result of TOEFL is valid during 2 years.
14 - For which program requires portfolio when applying?
-Portfolio within interview can be asked for Textile and Fashion Design Master Program and proficiency in art program, Graphic Design Master Program within application requirements. Applicants who ungraduated from art branch can be evaluated without portfolio on interview.
15 - Can I apply for undergraduate transfer ?
-Except for scientific preparation, students who completed at least a semester in the graduate programs of another department/department of the university or another university and succeed all their courses may be accepted through undergraduate transfer within the quotas determined for graduate programs.
16 - What is the language of education and training?
-It is Turkish, except for all the departments based on foreign language.
17 - Is there foundation program based on science / art?
-After they are accepted for postgraduate and doctoral program, students who completed their undergraduate or post graduate program in a different department can be taken for scientific program by the department of art major.
18 - What is the duration of scientific foundation program?
-It is divided into two academic sessions at most. Students who are not successful will be discharged at the end of academic session. The duration of master and doctoral program is not included foundation program.
19 - Can I take both courses of master/doctoral program and courses of foundation program?
-The students of foundation program may be given additively courses of related graduate of program with confirmation of head of department/art branch and decision of the institute administrative committee, provided that the student makes a petition.
20 - How do I register for my courses?
Course registration is made by the student on automatisation system with password during date range which published by the institute, it is confirmed by academic advisor of the department / art branch. First-time course registrations are made by academic advisor. Students have to make contact with their academic advisor for confirmation of course registration.
21 - What should I do if some problems based on automatisation during registration?
-You can take some information by student support system (firstname.lastname@example.org).
22 - Is there compulsory attendance ?
-Yes, there is. Students who don't attend more than 30 % of theory courses and 20 % of applied or laboratory courses cannot participate to final and makeup exams.
23 - Are the courses online or face to face ?
-According to YÖK's decision, each university in Turkey makes their own decision how to give courses. Most of courses are given on Halic-X online platform during pandemia.
24 - Are the exams online or face-to-face?
-It depends on the lecturer of course.
25 - How to get student certificate and transcript?
-You can get them from Sutluce Campuse (student administration office) and also you can view your transcript on the automatisation system by using your password.
26 - Are the student certificates obtained through the e-Government Portal?
In accordance with the article numbered E-53785 and dated 12.07.2018 by the council of Higher Education, they are valid in all public institutions.
27 - What is the minimum pass mark to be counted as successful in one course?
In Masters programs, the minimum pass mark is 65. In doctoral/doctor of arts programs, the minimum pass mark is 70.
28 - How long is the duration of the Non-Thesis Master's Programs?
The duration of completion of non-thesis master's programs is at least two semesters excluding the time spent in scientific preparation and at most three semesters.
29 - How many courses should be taken to complete the Non-Thesis Master Program?
The Non-Thesis Master's program consists of at least 10 courses and a term project.
30 - When is the term project advisor determined in the Non-Thesis Master Program?
The advisor is recommended to the institute by the Head of Department/Art Major of the relevant program until the end of the first semester at the latest.
31 - How long is the duration of the Master's Program with Thesis?
Starting from the semester in which the courses related to the registered program are given, it is completed in four semesters and at most six semesters.
32 - Is the time spent in scientific preparation included in the total time?
No, it is not.
33 - How many courses must be taken in the Master's Program with Thesis?
Master's program with thesis consists of at least seven courses, a seminar course and a thesis study.
34 - How many credits are required in the master's program with thesis?
Master's program with thesis consists of 60 ECTS on condition with no less than 21 credits. It consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS together with the thesis.
35 - How many credits are required in the non-thesis master's program?
The non-thesis master's program consists of a total of 30 credits and a term project with at least 10 courses, not less than 60 ECTS.
36 - How many credits are required in the doctorate program?
For students accepted with a master's degree with thesis, a minimum of 120 ECTS is required during the course period on condition with a total of not less than 21 credits.
37 - When is the thesis supervisor / project supervisor appointment for the Master with Thesis / Non-Thesis?
The advisor is recommended to the institute by the Head of the Department/Art Major of the relevant program until the end of the first semester at the latest. The advisor approved by the Institute is appointed as the thesis advisor and is seen in the student's system.
38 - When should the thesis subject be determined in the master's program with thesis?
The thesis subject is suggested to the Institute in the desired format until the end of the second semester at the latest. The topic proposal approved by the institute is seen in the student's system.
39 - Can the thesis subject determined in the master's program with thesis/ doctorate program be changed?
If the thesis subject is to be changed, the thesis subject change form and new thesis topic proposal form on the institute page are filled under the knowledge of the thesis advisor and conveyed to the Institute. The decided new topic proposal is evaluated by the Institute and the thesis topic can be changed if deemed appropriate.
40 - How many courses should be taken at least in the doctorate program?
In Doctoral Programs, at least seven courses and a seminar course must be taken. The course period is followed by the doctoral qualifying exam and the successful students start their thesis studies.
41 - What is the maximum time to complete the Doctorate / Proficiency in Arts Program?
For those who are accepted with a master's degree with thesis, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the program they are enrolled in are given, regardless of whether they have registered for each semester or not, the completion time is eight semesters and the maximum completion period is twelve semesters; For those admitted with a bachelor's degree, the completion time is ten semesters and the maximum completion period is fourteen semesters.
42 - Is there a specified maximum time to complete a Doctorate or Proficiency in Arts course period?
The maximum period of successfully completing the credit courses required for doctorate and proficiency in arts programs is four semesters.
43 - What is the minimum grade point average required for the successful completion of the Doctorate / Proficiency in Art course period?
The grade point average must be at least 3.00.
44 - When is the Doctorate / Proficiency in Art advisor determined?
The appointment of a thesis advisor, with the proposal of the Department / Art Major and the approval of the Institute, must be completed by the end of the second semester at the latest.
45 - When is the doctoral qualifying exam taken?
The student must have taken the proficiency exam by the end of the fifth semester at the latest.
46 - What happens if the student fails in the doctoral qualifying exam?
The student who fails in the qualifying exam takes the exam again in the next semester for the parts he failed. The student who fails again in this exam is dismissed from the doctoral program.
47 - Is there a qualifying exam before the thesis study period in Proficiency in Art programs?
No. There is not a qualifying exam in Proficiency in Arts that is equivalent to a doctoral qualifying exam.
48 - When can I submit my doctoral thesis proposal at the latest?
The Student who successfully passes the qualification exam in the doctoral program must submit his/her thesis proposal within six months at the latest.
49 - On what dates are the doctoral thesis monitorings done?
According to the regulation, the doctoral thesis monitoring is done at least twice a year, in January-June and July-December periods. Students who do not attend the meetings without a valid excuse are considered unsuccessful for that period of monitoring. The student who fails in two consecutive meetings or in three different meetings is dismissed from the University by the Committee.
